Outlook 2007 hangs on splash screen
Symptom/Sign of Problem
2007 hangs at splash screen when attempting to run normally, but it will open when ran in Outlook safe mode. Typically when Outlook fails to open normally it will prompt for opening in safe mode on a second attempt to run the program. This might be due to a problem with Outlook and Windows Search.
Fix Steps:
1. Open start then click Run and enter services.msc and press Enter.
2. Scroll nearly to the bottom of the list and highlight Windows Search.
3. Right click and select properties.
4. Change the Startup Type to “Disabled”.
5. Reboot the system.
6. Start Outlook as normal. If the you are prompted again for running in Safe Mode select No and see if Outlook runs as normal.
